People find it funny whenever I talk about all of the ways I have avoided people. Avoiding People 101 is part serious, part funny. The truth is, everyone has their own ways and reasons for avoiding people, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. Sometimes you just don’t want to talk to somebody, or you can’t stand being around toxic or negative people. This advice is not just for introverts because it can be awkward around certain people, no matter who you are.

The first step is starting simple, especially when you are younger and just starting out. One small thing that I have done is that if something will take me a minute or less to do, I just do it right away. If I need to do a lot of chores, I will start with laundry because it takes less than a minute to start. Then, I will arrange the dishes. I don’t need to do everything at once. When you do things that take a minute or less, they all add up.

I think everyone should work in customer service at least once in their lives, because it teaches you humility and understanding. You get to see how things can happen, such as long lines, computers going down, and the kitchen of a restaurant getting slammed. It isn’t always the worker’s fault when those things happen. When you have worked in customer service, you have a better idea of how things work, are less bitchy about things, and are less likely to leave a mess. Since I want everyone to work in customer service, I might as well give you a way to survive it!
