The Best Ways Introverts can Engage in Activism

In today’s political climate specifically, it’s more important than ever to be involved in activism and support causes that you believe in. Oftentimes, this looks like participating in protests, marches, etc., but these gatherings can often feel overwhelming and uncomfortable for those who are more introverted. Luckily, there are numerous different ways you can be involved and support organizations without being out on the frontlines. Here are a few tips for being a part of activism as an introvert:

  • Don’t feel guilty. Try not to let yourself feel pressure about being where all the sensationalism and action is. It’s okay if you don’t want to be in the physical atmosphere of the protests, marches, etc. - you can still be engaged and supportive of the cause without physically being there.

  • You can call, email, write letters to different politicians, organizations, and so on. You can sign petitions. This puts pressure on those in charge and indicates that change is both needed and wanted.

  • You can donate! This can be donating money, donating supplies and essentials that others need who may be out protesting, donating your time by volunteering in one way or another. You can also encourage others to donate in the place of gifts for special events like birthdays or weddings.

Share information and messages with others about the different ways they can help support the cause (this is very effective when it comes to social media - Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.)
