Quiet Achiever
3 Ways Introverts can Thrive at Work
The concept of a “Quiet Achiever” refers to someone who gets the task/job they are assigned completed in a simple and timely manner. Due to the more independent nature of introverts, they often happen to be Quiet Achievers in their work environments.
If you find yourself at a job in which you are generally surrounded by/working alongside others, here are a few tips for being more successful in these situations as a Quiet Achiever:
Learn how to make your workdays more flexible: Try to free up your time a little by working from home occasionally or taking half-days when you have the ability to. This will decrease the common in-house interruptions like meetings, touch-bases, etc. Use this extra time as a little downtime for yourself to recharge or really hone in on a specific assignment.
Ask for a quick heads-up when it comes to meetings or brainstorm sessions: Ask for a 10-15 minute warning so you can prepare the points you’re going to discuss, or generate some ideas beforehand. Preparing means things will move more quickly and efficiently during the meeting.
Don’t let someone else dominate the conversation. Learn to be comfortable with asking others questions and allowing everyone a chance to talk and have a voice - including yourself! Often, introverts allow others to take up the majority of the conversation, but this isn’t always the most productive/successful method, especially in work scenarios.
