Respect Is Earned

Honestly, I don’t know why I made this something short. Its a really big topic that I could talk about for days. And I believe everyone needs to hear this.

Maybe I made it short because there isn’t much to say about it. Its just re-saying the sames things. And it shouldn’t have to be argued.

We’ve all heard that we need to respect our elders, or bosses, or whoever. That they automatically get it because of who they are or what they do. And I don’t believe that.

I believe that respect is earned.

In that same breathe they also say that certain people don’t deserve respect because of what they do or who they are. I’m more talking about people who work fast food, stay at home mothers, and other “jobs” that this society does not deem worthy.

So no, I will not respect someone older than me just because they are. If they are a bigot or yell at people for no reason. They do not get an excuse for their actions. I will not respect a business that pays its employees crap and doesn’t think they need healthcare.

Now that doesn’t mean I’m going to go around harassing these people. I can be respectful to everyone around me (to a point). That is a sign of my character. That doesn’t mean I don’t respect specific elder or businesses. Each one gets to decide what I give with their actions.
