Overstimulation Versus Low Energy
Too many people, too much noise, and too much going on. It can be so much that it’s hard to cope. But there is a difference between being overstimulated and just having low energy. And knowing what we have at the moment can help us to act to take care of ourselves and not hurt others.
Low Energy
This is what most of us introverts get. When we relax we are gathering energy. Throughout the day we do things that drain it, releasing energy. This can just be us talking less and doing more listening. At times just going off on our own for a bit. Not joining in for the quick conversations to work or eat alone. Even at times, it makes us slow to answer. The brain just takes a little more time.
Over-stimulation
This is something more and can be something that need more attention. This is the loss of language, making it just hard to talk altogether. Being more irritable, super tired, and just completely zoning out. It can even lead to physical ailments.
Having many days of low energy can lead to being overstimulated or it can just be one situation that just too over. We can work on not having all those low days by making sure we take the time we need to recharge. For the other times we just need to figure out our triggers and the first signs. So that we can get ourselves out of the situation.
