Introvert Book Characters
We all want to have representation in the things we consume. Even for something small as introversion. But it is great to have characters that people can see themselves in. Here are some of my favorite books with really good introvert characters. Ones that show all sides but also how they grow, without completely changing who they are.
Laura Jean: To All The Boys I Use To Love. Gotta love a girl who lives part of her life through books. But even when she was “dating” they didn’t always do what he wanted to do, going out and being seen. They would stay in and movies like she wanted to do
Katniss: The Hunger Games. She pretty much keeps to herself, with only one friend. Loves to do things that most do alone or in a small group. Going through the pageantry of the Games jars her at every turn.
Matilda. Though this is a children’s book but there are some adult themes. She thrives on her own, though she does want to go to school. She handles things on her own, very independent. Even when she gets her happily-ever-after she’s still reading
Mr. Darcy: Pride and Prejudice. Dude is so awkward at a party. We can all relate to that. He has problems talking to people he doesn’t know. Just to show that money can’t change who you are fundamentally.
Bilbo Baggins: The Hobbit. He just wanted to sit at home and enjoy a cup of tea. He did not like getting a knock on the door and then having a bunch of strangers in his home. Even on the adventure, he went off on his own.
Fanny Price: Mansfield Park. Another Jane Austen book. Again another great reader. She really prefers activities with very few people, even though out and about.
Bonus: Where’s Waldo. He is never home and never doing anything with anyone.
